Magazzino 26
Built in 1880, it spans an area of 9000 m2, with an underground floor used as a cellar, a ground floor and three upper floors and an attic. The first project for Warehouse 26 recalled the neo-Gothic and neo-Romanesque stylistic features of the warehouses of the Speichestadt in Bremen and the Kesselhaus, the hydrodynamic power plant. The building overall appears rigorous, austere and solemn, with evidently bare and essential facades, and whose decorative aspect is entrusted to a few elements, and above all to construction materials such as bricks, stone, wood, iron and cast iron. The turrets that surmount the finishes of the cornices, the even higher attics on the central bodies and richly decorated, give Warehouse 26 a sumptuous appearance.

The Sea by Riccardo Pergolis

Dal 6 settembre al 3 novembre

Riccardo Pergolis (1941 - 2018) was an interpreter of Trieste’s passion for the sea. A multifaceted intellectual, he was also a designer of pleasure craft in Trieste, Venice and England, which paves a path that helps to understand the history of boating in the upper Adriatic. The exhibition is based on the archive of images, notes and projects of boats, as well as on the naval architect’s personal library and will exhibit the progress of the design and construction phases of some of the yachts built by Riccardo Pergolis. This includes drawings, models, photographs and extracts from the notebooks dedicated to each construction and will be integrated with thematic and biographical insights. By: Museum of the Sea
