Comune di Trieste
Designed by the architect Giuseppe Bruni, the current Town Hall of Trieste was built between 1873 and 1875 on the site previously occupied by the Magistrate's Palace and a Loggia with a bell tower used for municipal sessions and a gallery for the public. The eclectic style façade on Piazza Unità d'Italia gives the Palace a monumentality and grandeur of great effect, constituting a scenographic backdrop to a stage open to the sea of incredible beauty. Inside, there is the large Council Hall, embellished with valuable wooden furnishings and the allegorical painting "Commercial Prosperity of Trieste" by Cesare Dell'Acqua. Amongst the numerous reception rooms, the Blue Hall, is designed to welcome authorities and distinguished guests.
